چکیده

We investigate the linear and nonlinear optical responses of dilute anisotropic networks using the Green’s-function formalism (GFF)[Gu Y et al. 1999 Phys. Rev. B 59 12847]. For the different applied fields, numerical calculations indicate that a large third order nonlinear enhancement and a broad infrared absorption arise from the geometric anisotropy. It is also shown the overlap and separation between the absorption peak and nonlinear enhancement peak when the applied field is parallel, perpendicular to the anisotropy respectively. In terms of the inverse participation ratios (IPR) with q = 2 and spectral distribution of optical responses, the results can be understood. PACC: 7430G, 8160H Typeset using REVTEX

Green's tensor calculations of plasmon resonances of single holes and hole pairs in thin gold films

We present numerical calculations of the plasmon properties of single-hole and hole-pair structures in optically thin gold films obtained with the Green’s tensor formalism for stratified media. The method can be used to obtain the optical properties of a given hole system, without problems associated with the truncation of the infinite metal film. The calculations are compared with previously p...

A numerical Green’s function for multiple cracks in anisotropic bodies

The numerical construction of a Green’s function for multiple interacting planar cracks in an anisotropic elastic space is considered. The numerical Green’s function can be used to obtain a special boundary integral method for an important class of two-dimensional elastostatic problems involving planar cracks in an anisotropic body.

I-V Characteristics of a Molecular Wire of Polyaniline (Emeraldine Base)

In this study, Polyaniline molecule (emeraldine base) is modeled as a molecular wire and the effects of the metal/molecule coupling strength and the molecule length on the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics are numerically investigated. Using a tight-binding Hamiltonian model, the methods based on Non-equilibrium Green’s function theory, Landauer formalism and Newns-Anderson model, our calcu...

Computing overall elastic constants of polydisperse particulate composites from microtomographic data

In this paper, we use the well-known Hashin–Shtrikman–Willis variational principle to obtain the overall mechanical properties of heterogeneous polydisperse particulate composites. The emphasis is placed on the efficient numerical integration of complex three-dimensional integrals and on aspects of the anisotropic material response of real tomographically characterized packs. For this purpose, ...

The dynamical Green’s function and an exact optical potential for electron-molecule scattering including nuclear dynamics

The concept of an optical potential as a physical entity that governs the scattering of a single particle by a composite target is an intuitively appealing phenomenological concept that goes back to the early days of nuclear physics. In principle, the scattering of a nonrelativistic, quantum-mechanical particle off an N -particle target is a many-body problem and governed by the (N + 1)-particl...
